No Practice on Monday 4/5

Hello Team,

Hope everyone had a great Holiday weekend!

We will not have practice on Monday 4/5 (sorry for the late notice).

We will have practice on Wednesday 4/7 from 6-7:30pm at GSA on our regular field (Spencer).

There will be an additional optional practice session on Tuesday 4/6 from 6-7:30pm for any player that wants to come out for a kick-around.

Remember to check out your soccer stations for some big games this week (UEFA Champions League Game - Barcelona vs Arsenal on Tuesday, Fox Soccer Channel at 5pm).

Hello Team!

The complex will be officially open for training sessions on Monday, February 8 which means we will begin our Monday/Wednesday, 6-8pm Training sessions at that time.

I would like to have a Training Session on this Wednesday, February 3, from 6-7:30pm at the GSA Parking Lot, for those who can make it.

I have finally secured a field and a team to have a scrimmage on this Saturday, February 6. We will play on Bender Field at GSA from 10am-12noon against our own GSA 96 Blue Team. Please wear your RED Uniform.

I hope that all of you can make it and I am sorry for not being able to provide more advanced notice.

Lastly, I am in the process of completing the Player Evaluations so you can expect them sometime this week.

Look forward to seeing everyone and to get back on the fields.

Hi Team! Happy New Year! I hope that each of you had a very enjoyable and memorable Holiday. I just want to take a moment to briefly review last season and to preview the upcoming season as well. First things first. On a personal note, THANK YOU to each of you for your support, patience and understanding during my transition into Fatherhood. As all of you know, being parent is "The toughest job one will ever love" and I am learning to do a whole lot more work with a lot less time to do it in. Second, THANK YOU to Donna for her incredible work as our Team Manager. THANK YOU to David for his invaluable work as our Assistant Coach. THANK YOU to Angela for her excellent work as our Team Treasurer. I could not have made it through this season without them. Please forgive me if I forgot anybody else because I know that from time to time others have helped out in various ways. As for the Fall 2009 Season...CONGRADULATIONS! We had one goal to achieve and that was to maintain our Classic 3 status and by the skin of our teeth we did it! We faced very tough competition from the start of the first tournament and it never let up. There is no doubt that the boys were highly challenged every step of the way and this kind of experience certainly helps to push the development of the players to a higher level. I was most proud of how the boys handled themselves throughout the season as they never lost their resilience and enthusiasm to compete and fight no matter the opponent and no matter the score. Each individual definitely grew and improved as a player. From the beginning the "team" showed moments of greatness against extremely capable competition and the "team" got better and better every month. I am eager and confident that we will show improved results in the Spring Season as well as find a way, once again, to do what it takes to hold-on to our Classic 3 position. THANK YOU to each player for your committment to the team...I had a lot of fun coaching each of you and I look forward to another season together. Before we begin a new season each player will receive a Player Evaluation. I have 55 Player Evaluations to complete and your patience is appreciated while I work through this process and my goal is to finish all of them by then end of January. As for the Spring 2010 Season, here are some things to expect. Team Website This will be our primary source of communication as it is more efficent and effetive than a barage of emails each week. Team information can be sent to everyone as an announcement (like this one) so you will still get emails but it will also be posted on our website for easy access so you do not have to sift through old emails in search of team info. Team Fundraisers We have some ideas we would like to implement this season. 1) Team Donations - We are asking for donations from within the team to help cover the training fees for a few of our teammates that have been hit extra hard by the economy. 2) Team Sponsor - We are searching for a Team Sponsor. We will put the Sponsors Name on our Training T-shirt(s) which will be worn at all practices and all games as the warm-up jersey. I will send a sponsorship letter by the end of the week. 3) Team Fundraiser - If we still need additional funds then we need to do a Team Fundraiser. I know that one of the GSA teams did a Yard Sale and raised about $300 which could go a long way to helping us out. This could also be a fun bonding experience for the boys/families and also provide an important lesson for all of us about coming together to help others. We are asking for somone to step forward and take the lead on organizing the Team Yard Sale. Practice Schedule Remains the same, 6-8pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. February 3 will be the first practice session (I have a conflict on the Feb. 1). We will have a Practice/Scrimmage on either Saturday, Feb. 6 or Sunday Feb. 7, and, on either Saturday, Feb. 20 or Sunday, Feb. 21. I need to know everyone's availability so please let me know if you are NOT available on one of those days and I will do my best to work it out. Tournaments 1) Cobb FC Classic - February 13, 14 in order to begin preparations for the Spring Classic 3 Season. 2) GA Presidents Cup - May 15, 16. This is a State Cup competition for all Classic 2 teams and lower. Winners advance to REgional tournament on June 11-13 in OK. Winners from there advance to Nationals on July 8-11 in TN. 3) GSA Super Cup - May 22, 23. 4) TBD - overnight tournament in April. Just for fun but need to make sure to find appropriate tournament. Game Schedule - The Season begins March 6 but the State will not post the schedules until February and we will let you know as soon as the schedules are released. Team Roster We have 14 players and I am considering 2 more players for the Spring Season. I want to strengthen the team by increasing the number of players that we have on the team because there are always conflicts and injuries that could put us in a bind and a full roster of 16 players ensures that we will always have enough players for practices and games. That should cover it for the time being. Thanks again to all of you for a great season and I look forward to much of the same for the 2010 Spring Season. Coach Mike

Good morning. I had sent you an email last night asking you to visit the website to create a profile for your family so you could receive email directly from the website.

However, I was able to add your email addresses myself however so I saved you a step! I created only one profile per player but did enter all email addresses as Donna had them on her distribution list.

That said, I may or may not have been able to pull the correct names from those so you may need to add or correct what I have listed. And you will also need to add street address, contact numbers and family information regardless.

Hope you enjoy the site...let me know if there is any information you'd like to have added and I'll try to do so.

Hi Donna,

I saw that you are the team manager for Mike Farnham. Are you going to give the website a try? Did you see the video I created that walks through the startup checklist?

I took some time to partially get the site going. I added GSA as a location and added a GSA field map. I also scheduled your Oct 3 game and am sending this email from that game. The RSVP is for demonstration. You can erase it by deleting the text in the RSVP response box.

The site isn't that hard to learn and has been very popular with parents, players and team managers. If I can be of any additional help, let me know.
